Spouse is on Medicare and BCBS Fed (retired) and pays $30 a month for Trulicity. Is this a difference between the basic and high option BCBS?
I don't know, it might be. My card says Standard Option, Code 104. Do you use the BCBS for prescriptions? I'm guessing yes. And i don't know if you have to use a "preferred pharmacy." I do have to use preferred physicians to have no co-pay. (I think the premium is around $250/month.)
I discovered I was a type 2 diabetic about 15 years ago. I had recently retired and went to go paint a bathroom in a property I owned in another state. I was exhausted, laid down on the couch, didn't get off the couch for 12 hours. Went to doctor, my a1c was 12.1. and I weighed approx 210. I was prescribed all the old standards (Metformin 2x1000) Gimilpride 2x a day then transitioned to the new drugs as they became available. I did the weekly Trulicity injections - after 2 years I told the Dr. I couldn't do it anymore, felt terrible, switched to daily (ugh) Victoza injections did that for about 18 months - had enough of that. Did they work in terms of lowering my a1c and losing weight, I suppose. I lost my appetite for food while taking the Trulicity/Victoza and even after I quit taking them, I never regained my appetite or taste so I don't eat much. I can't explain why. Today my a1c is 6.1 and I weigh 157. Feels better carrying less weight around but i do miss having an appetite.
As a retired fed, between FEHB BC/BS and Medicare (about $600 a month) my wife and I have no deductibles for any doctor visits or tests. I don't recall either Trulicity or Victoza being particularly expensive in our circumstance.
congrats wish I could have some if it causes weight loss
