I only have a couple of more weeks until I'm done with my 90 days of p90X. I went from a size 12 to a size 4 since day one. I'm doing the regular version and not following the diet plan but have cut out processed foods by about 90%. I'm eating about 1600 to 1800 calories a day (I'm 5'1).
I tried everything before from south beach to eating like a bird, to hiring a physical trainer. I then decided I wanted to eat like a normal person and still have sweets and loose weight, something I could stick to forever. Yes, I will have an occasional pizza (but usually one slice plus a salad) and cookies (but only one instead of 3)...I just watch my portions on the bad stuff. No prior workout plan worked....not even one pound lost.....until....
P90X! I guess gaining all that muscle does ramp up your metabolism because I've lost 15 pounds in 2 1/2 months and gained a lot of muscle...so no telling how much actual fat was lost. My family came into town a couple of weeks ago and we ate bad the several days they were here. I thought for sure I would gain a couple of pounds because I always would in the past....instead I lost 2 pounds that week! I can only guess that my metabolism is back to where it was in my college years which is really exciting.
Be forwarned....I did not loose a single pound the first 30 days and didn't see much difference. I thought maybe it wasn't going to work...but the last 30 days I've seen the most difference and am now in better shape than when I was an athelete in college.
It's because I'm 5'1 and carried most of it in my mid section and hips, so that's where I lost it Also, I gained so much muscle...and one pound of muscle equals one pound of fat...that I actually look as if I lost 20 pounds. That's what lifting weights will do.
Congratulations!!! Yet another P90x success story among MANY MANY other people Ive known and heard about who also achieved and/or exceeded their fitness and weight loss goals with this program.
I bought my pull up bar from Target. I bought bands off of amazon, but didn't like them..I ended up buying 5 pound, 10 pound, and 20 pound weights. I did get a mat.
At least I know now that I need muscles to burn fat. It's good to know because I don't plan to have any weight problems in the future now that I have the secret to fitness.
Oh if you start, they say for women you don't really see all of your results until the last 30 days. You just have to keep yourself going....which is hard when you are not seeing results. That was true for me....didn't really see dramatic results until the last 30 days. The first 60, I just kept looking at before and after photos of other people on the web to keep me going as I wasn't seeing a lot in results.
I like that I came across this thread because today is my 17th day of P90X and I have only seen 1 pound weight loss. I really love the program so it is nice that others are here to tell you to just be patient. I have quite a bit to loose so I know I wont have the perfect body even after the 90 days but I hope it will be a good start. I am not following the diet plan because that is way too many calories for my 45 YO body. I eat around 1300-1500. I am doing the classic but throwing in extra cardio like running about 1/2 hour at least 4 times a week.
