Default Taste of diet coke versus regular coke

Here is my experience, duplicated by two other people. About 15 years ago I switched from regular to diet sodas for health reasons. I didn't care much for the taste of the diet coke, but I said to myself that it was worth it because there is so much sugar in the regular. After several years of drinking diet coke, I noticed (to my surprise) that I preferred the taste of it, and that now I don't care much for the taste of regular coke. I guess we can learn to like certain tastes. So for the poster who didn't believe a person who claimed diet coke tasted better, I say that person may have been telling the truth. Taste is a very individual matter anyway.

Odd thing about diet coke, it spikes my blood sugar!

I tried an experiment, diet coke actually spikes my blood sugar and regular coke didn't. Well, regular coke isn't good for you, either, but I found a regular, small coke with a meal didn't affect my BS as much as a diet coke.

The diet coke tricks the body into thinking it has a sugar load, is my opinion. Then, about an hour later, I'm so hungry I get the shakes after a diet coke.

Observing the two orders ahead of me was eye-opening. Two ways of eating at the same fast food place--and two different body sizes. I wonder if both women thought they were eating healthy?
Interesting observation, and a scenario that is probably a lot more common than not.

However, you had no idea what she may or may not have had earlier, or may or may not had planned for later that day. Not saying that this womans extra weight wasn't solely the fault of her dietary choices and probable sedentary lifestyle (most fat people are fat because of that), BUT, perhaps she hadn't eaten at all that day, and knew that she wasn't likely to eat later either? Sort of a "load the hump" way of thinking. that is not healthy either, but better than going all day without anything.

Don't just assume that because she's overweight that her choice at that particular instance is how she eats all the time. That may have been a specific indulgence that she had planned for. For example, she might have been doing Weight Watchers, and had been saving up points for a couple of weeks to have that. (Doubtful, and totally not what the whole idea of saving points is for, but still.....). I have had this happen to me so many times I can't even count it, and it's really harsh to be judged so completely over one small observation from someone you don't know, or barely know. (Not that she knew you were critiquing her.) Or maybe that's just what she wanted right then, and later on, she'd go home to steamed vegies and brown rice. Again, doubtful, but possible. You never know.

My point is, you just can't judge a book by it's cover. Sometimes you have to browse the pages to see what it's all about. You are probably right and she was just exercising her right to have too much of a poor choice of foods when healthier options and sizes were available. I just don't think any of us should casually pass judgements, even if we don't know the person. Just my thoughts.

I don't think I've ever witnessed anything like that, but if this were the case, and it was a blood sugar/insulin issue, than this was the best option. Perhaps, they had dosed up with insulin in prep for a meal out, and then something happened to delay. When you're on insulin, you have to eat within 30 min to 1 hour of dosing otherwise you can have some serious issues. 2 of my grandparents were insulin dependent, so I know how much management goes into it.

Unless these people were just gluttonous white trash ('cause that's a world wide courge believe me) I actually applaud them for not just grabbing some fast food or junk off the shelves. I'd much rather see them do what they did than grab a bag of Dorritos or a donut.

I think they probably could have at least waited until they'd purchased the items. If it had got down to the wire and one of them was fixing to pass out or have a seizure then they need to learn better management of the illness!

Good grief if you have 75-100 lbs of fat to subsist off of you will not starve to death in 30 minutes while you shop and then drive home before fixing something to eat.
I don't think that's right that they did that! BUT if there was a small kid and he was hungry...then sure!
