There has to be some difference though in the "caffeine". Because the effect is completely different from coffee, both for me and a buddy of mine who turned me on to it.
Here's a link i just found that shows there is very little of it compared to coffee and even less than cola. Caffeine in Yerba Mate Tea
But yet the energy I can get from it is pretty strong (in a very subtle way) and there is no "crash". Lack of jitters or stomach ache that's possible with too much coffee may be do to the higher concentration. But I wonder if there is something else in the mate that contributes to the energy?
Oh well, regardless of all that, at least it seems to be a healthier option.
You can get it usually in any grocery store with an ethnic aisle. Or check the mexican grocery stores. Or order it online. It also comes in tea bags if you don't want to prepare it the traditional way.
lol, why would it be in a mexican store? the stuff is argentinian/uruguayan. Here EVERYONE drinks it, its the most normal thing to drink in breakfast and tea time, if you dont drink it in Argentina you re seen as an alien, and is involved in every workplace and enviroment, so its impossible not to taste it.
How the heck should I know? But that's where it's found around here.
I would sure hope that it's popular in Argentina. But here in the USA I would bet less than 1% of the population has ever heard of it.
Since im dieting, im drinking yerba mate every day. It is SO good! It keeps me very energyzed and supress my apetite. Its actually perfect for afternoon or mid morning!
