You don't earn money while you lose weight. You have to pay $25 to enter the game, every single month. If you lose a certain percentage after 6 months, you get to split the pot with everyone else who entered and lost the same percent (or more).
So, if you pay $25, for 6 months, that's $150 -
and you only lose 5% after 6 months - you're out $150.
If you give up before the 6 months is over - you're out however much you put in, with nothing back at the end of 6 months.
You also have to have a scale (digital preferred), a digital camera or smartphone, a full-length mirror or someone to take your picture while you're wearing "airport security attire."
While it's not a scam, it is also not so simple as "we pay you to lose weight." The catch-phrase is "social dieting."
They verify by having you set up a code word - having a scale and a camera -
When it's weigh-in time, you have to weigh yourself using that code-word and taking a picture of you doing that.
I'd say it's pretty easy to just put a lighter-weight person on the scale and take a picture of *their* feet, starting with them wearing a heavy jacket, winter clothing, ankle-weights hidden under their sweatpants, and holding a couple of 5-pound weights. A month later, have them ditch one of the weights. A month later, they drop the other weight. A month after that, have them ditch the jacket. And so on and so forth.
At the end of the month, voila - proof positive that the person lost >10% of their starting weight, and they get to collect the prize (and split it with their lighter-weight friend).
