I know, right?

But.....I like my wine, and beer. and champagne. Which would be better, if I was to want some alcohol?

Vodka= 64 calories per shot.
Wine= 123 cal per serving
Champagne= 90 cal per serving
Beer, well, we know it all varies.

At the end of the day, it's all empty calories, but a vodka and sprite zero or vodka with club soda and a twist of lime is a good way to have some kicks without going too calorie heavy.

Alcohol is metabolized in the liver so does not spike insulin levels. Just compensate for the calories by cutting down on sugar (sugar makes one hungry). Lite beers are out there.

This^^. Carb count is more important than calories, since the liver handles the alcohol metabolism. I like dry wine, or low carb beer (I can't tolerate any kind of hard liquor). Coronia Lite only has 5 carbs (and 95 calories or so)

Sparkling wine and champagne has lower alcohol than regular wine and is a good choice. Also, it is very food friendly. Beer is about the worst.
I like my wine and I have learned to compensate for it by cutting calories in other areas.

I lost all my excess weight without giving up a drop of beer! Lite beer beer that is.

I'm not sure sparkling wine and Champagne are low in sugar/carbs?

Brut (dry) Sparkling wine and Champagne are naturally lower in alcohol because the grapes are picked at a lower brix (sugar content). Less sugar to convert to alcohol makes it less alcoholic which makes it a nice choice to drink.
I am not concerned with carbs when I enjoy a glass of wine so for me that point is moot.
But we are splitting hairs here. Wine is wine and beer is beer.

Michelob Ultra Light is 2.6g carbs per 12oz. ABV is at 4.2% so yes a bit weak but it is still decent tasting beer and may satisfy that craving.

One thing you can do with wine is decrease the amount but add an equal amount of club soda to the glass.

I look at my glass of evening wine as a treat. But I know it has calories and sugar in it. I realized that what I REALLY like is the ritual of a "treat" at the end of the day, so I decided to give hot tea a try. I have cut down my wine intake significantly by substituting hot tea - in a special cup and saucer, and I often add fresh mint leaves to it, or make my own herbal tea blends. See, to me, that feels like a treat. But sometimes I just want a glass of wine so that's when I do the club soda trick and that works great too.

They are going to have to pry my daily two glasses of wine from my cold, dead hands.

I have great lab work, too - perfect kidney, liver enzymes, cholesterol. Alcohol can be healthy in reasonable amounts
