I just watched my wife make one of her shakes and she uses less than 1/4 cup. Looks about an 1/8 of a cup.

No, I don't use half a 1lb bag of frozen fruit in each smoothie, or a whole bag. I think you don't understand measurements. Yes, 8oz = 1 cup = 1/2 lb. if you put enough frozen whole strawberries to reach the 2 cup line on a glass measuring cup, that doesn't weigh 8 oz. Try it.

How do you measure out 1/8 cup of frozen fruit? Is it chopped? That would make a difference, yes. 1/8 cup of whole blueberries would be about 5 berries.

Btw, I'm not morbidly obese. I need to lose about 10 lbs.

Acai smoothie bowl:
Acai berry (2 frozen packs)
1 banana (frozen is best)
1 scoop egg white protein powder
ice
water if needed

I top it off with my favorite toppings. I eat this as a meal and sometimes as a replacement for ice cream or dessert when I don't want to mess up my blood sugar levels, but crave dessert. I now actually prefer this over regular desserts. Good stuff that fills me up for hours. I actually look forward to eating my acai bowl every time. Yum.

Yea I bought a juicer from Costco and experimented with it thinking it could be a weight loss tool ... not so much for me as I soon discovered that all the fruits and veggies I was jamming into the thing to grind up was just spitting out a sugar filled drink at the other end.

Drinking a high sugar filled drink is not good for you if you are trying to lose weight

I still make the occasional juice drink - but maybe once every couple weeks vs 1 a day as I started out at.

Knowledge is key and its easy to buy into the commercialization of dieting that all these companies bombard us with.

Quick tips that helped me shed 30lbs over a couple months are: avoid all foods that are bad for you - drink only water all day and watch your portions and cut back as much of your carb intake as you can manage
