you could either spend 1-2 hours on the treadmill - OR -
If you are about to eat a huge donut/pastry, do not eat it. If you do not eat it you will have saved 300 calories. And you would not even have to work it off on the treadmill!
OP - you should not do any diet, especially restrictive, unless you get a complete physical with labs, from your doc. I agree with the poster who said docs know nothing about nutrition, most don't as it's barely covered in med school. However, If your weight has gone up that much in a year, something is going on that you need to understand and be sure it isn't a medical condition such as insulin resistance or diabetes (type II) or something else. What has changed in your life in the year - job, stress, sleep issues...?
Please don't try any extreme diets or shortcuts, they are temporary and can made subsequent attempt so lose weight more difficult.
