Mr. Penn was very clear you could substitute anything, btw.
I believe he said he liked potatoes, why not, basically.
Last I saw him he kept it off.

If my health was as bad as his, at the time, yes I could do the same for 2 weeks!
I might choose an organic brown rice diet, tho.

If you eat any one food for any amount of time you will lose weight. Just on the basis of not wanting to eat the same thing, there is no enjoyment. You will eat enough to get full and stop, because you are sick of it.

For a vegetable, potatoes are one of the better sources of concentrated nutrition, but like all vegetables, a lousy source of protein.

Diets that produce weight loss by restricting fat & protein result in a good deal of muscle loss-- one of the reasons arms look so flabby after weight loss like that.

Weight loss via malnutrition isn't good.

Oh come on!!! You MUST know even from 7th grade health class that this is a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE thing to do. Potato ONLY diet?!?! Where would proper nutrition come from?

There were several people on another forum that I used to visit frequently who lost weight with an all potato diet. They called it the Potato Hack.

I have a question for those who have done the potato hack? - Mark's Daily Apple Forum

Here's the book about it:

I could eat a lot of tater tots. I think you can have ketchup too. Just not butter or sour cream.

I think in this case, the sugar in the ketchup is a lot worse than butter or sour cream. For that matter, the taters aren't very good either unless you are starving. (Like the lrish back in the 1800's)

I love 'em too! Unfortunately, they're made with fat which I don't think would be allowed. Even if you baked them in the oven instead of frying they have fat.
