Gastric Bypass Surgery Deaths: No Surgery is Completely Safe
I was talking to my friend last night at dinner and she is carrying too much weight on her 5 5" frame but would NEVER go this route.

To qualify for gastric banding surgery, you must fall into one of two categories:
BMI of 40 Kg/M2, or higher.
BMI of 30 Kg/M2 or higher, with at least one obesity related medical problem such as High Blood Pressure, Type II Diabetes, Sleep Apnea, severe cases of Arthritis, Acid Reflux Disease, Low Back and Joint Pain.
Lower Weights Qualify for Gastric Band Surgery
A person who is 5 ft 10 in tall and weighs 250 pounds has a BMI of 35.9.
Did the person mentioned in the "legal talk in show" have "at least one obesity related medical problem"? If so, the indication for the lap band was met.
Every consent form for surgery I have ever signed included the risks of infection, hemorrhage, and death. If you sign the consent, you are accepting the risk, and being obese increases all of them.
