There as many schools of thought about that as there are grains of sand on the beach.
Reducing caloric intake coupled with increase in physical activity WILL result in weight loss. Anytime you have a calorie deficit and burn more than you consume your body will break down fat stores to provide fuel for your body. It's just about as basic as you can get.
Now everybody else can give you their opinion. lol
Hi Poncho_NM,
I totally agree with you, I don't think if anyone is working hard to lose weight, he/she has a need to count calories.
It's better to take advice from the trainer and measure your weight after 1 week or 15 days.
If you've recently started to try to lose fat (and for many who've been trying for some time) :
Yes.
One of many reasons is so you know how many calories you're ingesting every day and you'll be more aware of foods and drinks that are packed with a lot and only a few.
Have an idea of what you're daily caloric maintenance is so you push that into a deficit.
It makes it easier to do.
Thst said, not all cals are the same.
But counting is a part of the process.
(Most, but all folks need to so do in the beginning.)

Thanks.
I started counting on My Fitness Pal and it helped me tremendously in the beginning.
But I do understand everyone is different and that includes, motivation.
Not really. Just go low carb, low fat, high fiber. Drink lots of water. No sugar or liquid sugars. Eat every 3 hours to get your internal furnace rolling.
I think something has gone wrong because I am getting extremely fat and now I eat very very fast indeed, in fact, three times faster to eat the same things as 3 weeks ago when I was 15lbs lighter. I am blowing up out of control.

Are you doing intermittent fasting or are you eating your food faster?
No... I never did.. Been up and down over the years, and never counted calories.
Here is some advice: Take you weight seriously. Get in a real program (there are varieties). Follow the advice of your "trainer"...
So if you can't afford a trainer or membership in a program you're not going to be able to lose weight?

Right, let's not collect data and use it to explain results. Sound strategy, we should also do that with our finances. Just deposit money into your bank account when possible and check your balance occasionally to see if you still have money.
There are literally thousands of people who eat "healthy" and can't figure out why they're not losing weight. The minute I hear someone say they're eating "healthy" I translate that into they're "over-consuming".
If you don't understand how your choices impact your fitness goals, how can you affect the changes you desire?
I lost 44 lbs. which is all the weight I could lose to get down to 10% body fat and didn't even attempt to count calories....I followed the recommendations in The Plant Paradox....I started the diet 18 months ago and lost all of my excess weight in the first 4-5 months and now just maintaining my weight in a perfect range.
