Good advice above. Don't bother with a weight gainer, as most have lots of sugar. What I do is make my own, using whey protein powder, ground up oats (using a coffee grinder), a TB or so of peanut butter, maybe some blueberries, and milk. That tops any gainer out there.

Yes, nothing is better than food, but try gaining by eating chicken breasts more than twice a day, and see if you can fit anything else in your stomach.

Generally, you should only need 500 calories over maintenance daily to gain weight. I agree that fat intake is necessary, and it's the easiest way to raise your caloric intake. I get most of mine from EV olive oil and PB.

my hubby has to work to maintain his weight....he has a high metabolism. He's 6'0" and about 180ibs....he's really toned, 6%BF and trust me....the guy eats. But he isn't happy and is constantly drinking protein shakes....muscle milk...soy protein and he often makes his own shakes with protein powder, ice cream, peanut butter and eggs...he says he wants to be at least 190 - 200ibs. He's not worried about gaining fat as we both work out constantly and we are really into mountain biking. Anyone have any suggestions??? I really have no idea what to tell him as i've never tried to gain weight.....Thanks Ya'll

Every single food item you listed is either sugar or cholesterol loaded,he needs to carb up and lay off the biking for a while and lift some heavy iron.Tell him not to exceed 190 grams of protein a day while carb loading and lifting he will reach his goal, he may gain some fat but thats o.k ;he then leans out for next summer then he will just be a bigger version of himself!there is a saying in the gym'' if your abs are showing you aint growing''IF he wants more mass he must eat more whole foods. guys think they do but they dont! He can pick up any muscle magazine and follow a ''bulking diet'' if he says he does all this already hand him a plate of 4 chicken cutlets 2 sweet potatos, broccoli with his next protein drink!

Back when i was super skinny as a teen in the 80's at 6/3 and 140 lbs i used Gainers Fuel by Twin Labs sold at GNC so see if they still make/sell it as it helped me bulk up back then.

I have a hard time gaining weight. But I very recently started drinking Ensure. And boy, does that stuff work! I gained about 30 pounds, believe it or not.
