I cleaned up my diet and started working out (again) about 8 weeks ago. The weight came off almost right away and continues to goes down, but more slowly now. However, my BP remained consistently high at around 122/82. Then it dropped to around 111/72 about a week ago. What was responsible for the drop in BP? Was it the walking, the weight loss, or the ground beef I began eating 2 weeks ago? I don't think I will know exactly what causes the BP to go down. I am happy with the result. And that should be good enough.
14 pounds doesn't look like a lot of weight to warrant such a drop.
I'm now realizing I didn't think to check my BP in my weight loss journey.
Somewhere between the initial 325 pounds and final 210 pounds, I completely stopped taking BP as it wasn't necessary anymore.
Also, 2 weeks is too short to draw any long-term conclusions. Check back in two months.
As for the walking itself, while it helps, it's not in itself panacea.
Even at 325 pounds, I used to walk about 2 hours per day, 7 days a week, with my Husky and was still in need of the BP meds, regardless of the daily regular exercise.
