"CHICAGO, March 18, 2024 — An analysis of over 20,000 U.S. adults found that people who limited their eating across less than 8 hours per day, a time-restricted eating plan, were more likely to die from cardiovascular disease compared to people who ate across 12-16 hours per day, according to preliminary research presented at the American Heart Association’s Epidemiology and Prevention│Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Scientific Sessions 2024, March 18- 21, in Chicago."
That's interesting. Looking forward to more info and analysis of these findings. 16 hours a day means you're eating right before bedtime which I've never heard anyone recommend. I didn't see where they considered what people were eating either.

I read a couple of articles about it, but not the actual study, which has not been published or peer reviewed.
It seems to be based on the review of surveys of 20,000 participants who self-reported their eating habits over a number of years. Eh, not the best protocol.
From the article:
The increased risk of cardiovascular death was also seen in people living with heart disease or cancer.

Wow, that's a surprise.../s
It's stupid because fatter/more obese people are more likely to drink diet soda or intermittent fast in an attempt to lose weight. It's a worthless study/survey.
Yea, survey studies are essentially worthless except as a nidus from which to form a hypothesis on which to base a good study. This one has the weaknesses noted above.
Forty yrs ago, the liquid protein diet was a flash-in-the-pan fad, going out of fashion just as quickly when it became apparent it caused a marked increase in acute MI and sudden death...It seems it worked so well that it was quickly mobilizing lipids/chol out of coronary placque, destablizing it and causing acute embolization & obstruction of coronary arteries.

No- the 16 hours is when you DON'T eat.
You eat during an eight-hour interval. For example, 11AM to 7PM, or 8AM to 4PM.
