Let's talk about intense diets, but NOT those which can have a harmful effect on our health...
Let's be responsible & NOT post dangerous diets, just ...those which really work...
The raw food diet is intense, in that it requires considerable planning to make interesting and varied meals. I have an acquaintance who ate raw for 8 months, lost 45lbs, then went back to her old eating habits and gained 60 pounds. Eating raw can be part of a healthy lifestyle; but if you treat anything as a temporary fix, you'll only see temporary results.
For instance,I am talking about the cucumber diet, where u eat just 3lbs of only cucumber per day for 1 week, allegedly losing up to ...2lbs per day...
Or a very low calorie,no fat diet together with minimal HCG shots, for no more than 3 months & no older than age 30,because HCG increases the risk for prostate/ovarian cancer...'
I did it at age 31,lost 38lbs ,in exactly 40 days...

Those don't sound healthy; they sound like crash diets. As far as I know, healthy sustainable weight loss is 1-3lbs a week. I don't know of any healthy crash diets.
Phase 1 of South Beach is pretty "radical", but it's only 2/3 weeks. I'm on day 3 and feel great. Basically, you only eat protein and vegetables- no sugar, grains, or fruit. The point is to rid your body of cravings so when you introduce whole grains and fruits at the end of the period, you will feel more in control and not feel the *need* to include a ton of grain in a meal. It does a number on my cravings, which I appreciate. While you tend to lose a lot of weight on the first phase (I have lost 5 pounds so far from day 0), it's all water weight. I don't feel sick or hungry which is great.
Phase 2 which is the weight loss phase is basically just healthy eating, with guidelines. I know I'm carb and sugar sensitive and it's better mentally for me to follow a "diet" rather than attempt to go it on my own.
I adore Phase 1 South Beach. I switch to that way of eating every so often.
Shangri La Diet is kind of extreme but I believe there is something to it. Basically, you take a tablespoon of sugar in water or extra light olive oil (or any other healthy, non-flavored oil) 2-4 times each day. You have to time these dosages at least an hour before and an hour after your meals and snacks. No eating, no gum chewing, no brushing of teeth - nothing flavored in your mouth during that time.
