I do know that it means avoiding wheat...so no bread. How about rice? Can the diet be combined with a vegetarian diet?
TIA

You can't eat anything that contains gluten. People who suffer from celiac disease follow a gluten free diet, and people with autism follow it also sometimes.
Things you can't eat would include: breads, crackers, cereals, cookies, pasta, donuts, cakes, pizza, biscuits, pretzels, and lots of other items. Many packaged foods have hidden gluten...if it's not listed as gluten free, you can't eat it. Rice Krispies is not gluten free, but Rice Chex is.
Many organic and speciality groceries have a larger selection of gluten free products, but prepare to pay a much higher price for them.
