Thanks, Faworki.
Actually, to correct myself, it was shroom who told me that the rescue had not caught fire. That the fires were close, but not THAT close. Fontucky was the one who told me that next time -- which I hope there isn't -- I should check with him for confirmation. He's in the know. All good folks we have here!
You did fine I would have done the same thing. You took the bull by the horns and did what had to be done. GREAT JOB. I am grateful that the no harm came to the rescues.

When I saw the posting on Facebook, I totally panicked. I re-posted it, then a bunch of people re-posted mine. It was like a domino effect, whcih got me even more in a tizzy.
I felt sick to my stomach at the thought of what might happen, and I went nutso.
Thankfully, shroom had a level head (I don't) and actually DID things other than post updates, which is the only thing I thought to do. And Fontucky gave me a resource (him) for next time (although I hope there is no next time).
D&J: Ya' did GOOD! Don't 2nd guess yourself & you didn't "jump the gun".
While it's true that the rescues were not on fire, it was not a false alarm and it was a true emergency. When the fire turned away from and passed the rescue, it was ~800 acres. Within 4 hours it had grown to >5500 acres. As of 0735 today, it was more than 8000 acres, with 5% containment.
Well, it seems that I jumped the gun. Fontucky told me that it was a false alarm, that the fire didn't get to the rescues.
When I saw it posted on Facebook, I had a moment of hesitation but then I took the "better safe than sorry" stance.
The fire was very close, but wasn't AT the rescue.

Methinks many Guardian Angels were there yesterday. Hope they continue to show up at all fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, etc ...
