My friend can not rescue her because she is an individual (though she did coordinate the sponsor for this dog) and Texas will only adopt Pits to Rescue organizations (501c). Does anyone have any contacts in Texas that could possibly get this girl to a no-kill shelter? I believe she has been sponsored but know little or nothing about that since it would seem that the shelter could keep her longer with sponsorship.
Anyway...I know it is a long shot, but there is something about that sweet face. She is scheduled to be PTS TOMORROW MORNING!
Great suggestion! I am on it. I have been talking to the person who WANTS to sponsor this girl (she lives in ATL) in addition to the friend in TX, and we are trying every avenue we can.
I just know that something can be done for this girl!! I thought she had a lot of lab too, so I wish they would just classify her as a Lab Mix LOL
Thanks, J-City. I should have mentioned that he pup is located in Carrollton. and since I am from NC, I am not familiar with ANY of the Texas rescues. I have emailed and called numerous rescues in TX today, and so far everyone is either full or has not responded. I know this is a terrible time of year, but we are praying for a miracle.
I appreciate the info!
And as an update...my friend (who is in ATL) who is sponsoring is willing to donate to the 501c3 organization that rescues this poor girl for her care.
Well we have GREAT news this evening! Someone has stepped up from SEATTLE to adopt. They had not just one but THREE dogs tagged and held for transport to Washington! They are all going to their forever homes :-)
Whooo Whooo!!
Thanks for all of the suggestions for who to contact! We got our miracle today!
So glad to hear she found a forever home. I found a Pit Mix Puppy in the park a few months ago and called every rescue group in the DFW area and they were either full or refused to take her because she had Pit in her, and it was clear as day she had Pit in her.
That's so great!!!!! So the shelter was able to adopt her out to a person not a rescue? I've never heard of shelters in Texas not being able to adopt out pits, just curious...
