Hello,

I just got a puppy about 4 days ago. I love dogs and this guy is real cute and friendly. I am normally a very calm and level-headed person however when I think about my puppy I get nervous and anxious about his well-being. Maybe it is just hard for me to deal with this being MY first dog? I just want to know if others have felt this way. Oh, and he is healthy and surrounded by good-loving people. My girlfriend also trains dogs for a living I think I am covered there.

it is a big responsibility and a life time commitment so some anxiety is normal. be aware your dog will pick up on your issues thru the leash as well as in how you handle the dog. your friends should be able to help you. good luck

I'm sure you'll do fine as you and your puppy adapt to your new schedule together. Puppies are a lot of work, it's o.k. to feel a little frazzled at times. Having a girlfriend who is also a dog trainer will be a big help! You and your pup will do fine .

Yep, it is just like having a new baby. You worry, wonder if he is missing you, and okay...If you want, you can get a webcam, and put it where he is likely to be when you are gone, and check in on him with your smart phone.

You sound like a man with their new baby....I guess you just love the dog, nothing wrong with that....no doubt you just feel anxious when you're away.....that's normal..it'll get easier as time goes on.

I believe that my new Shih Tzu is my 11th little baby, and, I still am nervous about the entire process. Between new puppies I forget how much attention they need, and accepting their little mistakes take my patience to a new level.

I think that you will be just fine...why? Because you care!

We have 5 dogs and I am always anxious/concerned about them; especially the new ones we bring in. It will become second nature after a while.

Sounds like your pup found a loving, caring home! Good luck!
