My dog messed up my beautiful large sitting pillows, & recently I had them cleaned. I got him a larger soft bed since his is 4 years old (like him) & small. No matter where I put his new bed he won't sleep in it. I've put treats, toys, etc, but he's attached to the old bed. He humped it when we brought it home, so I thought he was initiating it in his world . Should I take it back? Would Petsmart take it back?

They may take it back or exchange it if it is clean and doggie scent free and if you haven't had it more than about 10 days.

I probably have 10 dog beds in my house because I have my 2 personal dogs and 1-2 foster dogs much of the time. Of all the doggie beds I have in the house, my dogs love the donut shaped ones best.

My dogs favor "the pouf," a sofa-like bed that is old, beatup and fixed with duct tape. They take turns grabbing it.

Since you already have taken the tags off, can you take the cover off and wash it? If so, you could then perhaps return it "clean."

However, you might try taking a used shower towel or worn piece of clothing and putting on the new dog bed...and see what the dog does. They usually LOVE the scent of their people and will be willing to sleep with it. If he starts to play or trys to destroy the item (towel or clothing) immediately pick it up. Distruction is not the object of this, getting him to sleep on the bed is what it's all about

...just a suggestion...
