My dog (7 years old) seem to have developed ibs?
For the past year i've had to feed her food that i don't feel very good about > Iam's low residue.
I'd always fed her both organic dry and wet but now she can't tolerate it.
This Iams food is, i guess, lower in fat, has much fewer ingredients and ones that tend to be less irritating on the digestive track?
I dunno.
I don't have much insight into this condition although i have lots of experience with my own intestinal issues and have lots of knowledge in that regard.
I'm not sure if and how that experience can "bridge" with her condition if you know what i mean.
Anyone who tends to "go natural" have any experience / success with this issue?

Do you give your dog any digestive enzymes and Probiotics? Phoenix had digestive issues when I got her years ago and after a few weeks of giving her the above things seemed to kick in and her digestive system was fine. Have used them with any of the dogs when they are put on antibiotics and for several weeks after wards too to prevent digstive upset.

The only dog I ever knew with IBS had an owner with IBS, if you catch my drift. Have you seen a specialist to make sure it isn't anything else?

Like food allergies? They can rear up later in life.

You said rear up in an IBS topic. Why am I snickering?

Jaijai, I assume the IBS is diagnosed?

I'm assuming she's been to the vet since a low-residue food is a "veterinary" formula.
You might start giving her canned pumpkin. The fiber in it regulates the digestion and can help with both constipation and diarrhea (YMMV). You don't say what kind of dog she is but a large dog would get a heaping tablespoonful at each meal.
A lot of raw feeders start because of digestive issues or allergies in their dogs. I can't give you any help with a nutritionally complete raw diet though. It's something you might want to research online.
Hope you can find an answer for this.

I just started her on probiotics.
Her recent bout of diarrhea has cleared up.
I'd just love to get her on a different food but this one that she's on seems to be the only one that she can tolerate at this point.

I don't have IBS.
I don't even know if she does actually.
I just know that this Iams low residue is basically the only food that she can tolerate at this point.
