I'll be the first to chime in and say it, "it's about darn time!!!"

"Judge the deed, not the breed!!!"

To label all pits as vicious is like saying all children are stupid (both statements are NOT true.)

In my opinion, when one's pit bull maims/kills a person or another animal, then the owner should be somehow punished severely... maybe by a hefty fine/jail or even be banned from owning another animal capable of doing this. And we all know who they are.

thank you Ohio...1 step in the right direction.

Steel, in my opion when ones dog of ANY breed, maims/kils a person blame should be placed on the owner, and there should be serious investivgation into whether that person should ever be allowed to own a dog again.
ANY dog is capable of causing serious damage, and anyone who owns a dog whos so agressive to be such a risk to society its USUALLY based on how it was raised and those folks should probbaly not even own a chihuahua in the future.

(obviously under certain circumstances you cannot say the owner is unfit (ie a serious of serious misteps like a visitor leaving the gate open ect), but for the most part, people owning an agressive dog of anybreed due to how they treated/trained that dog shouldnt own ANY animal.

More and more "normal" people (including lawmakers) are rescuing pit bulls, and hopefully this will spread. I hope to see a day when BSL is just a bad memory, and laws are in place to better protect people from aggressive dogs of all breeds.
