We have given him several baths with flea medicine, tried flea collar, tried some powder. NOTHING has worked to kill them or drive them off him...he is white so its even easier to see....poor thing I just wish I could them gone.
Have you purchased a systemic flea/tick repellent from your vet? A collar is basically useless; it only renders aid to the neck, fleas tend to flock to the groin and under the "arm" pits. At the risk of implying you're ignorant, you do know for certain they are indeed fleas and not something else?

Frontline Plus or Advantix both work very well. They sell it at Petco, Petsmart, Costco, etc.
1: a bath in DAWN dishwashing detergent, wet, lather and let it sit for a few mins before rinsing extreemly well, it will kill ANY fleas ON the dog at the time. however this will NOT kill new fleas getting on the dog or repell fleas.
Onces hes FULLY dry move to step 2
2: a Flea preventative. Frontline Plus (walmart generic friponil plus), K9 Advantix, Advantage, are topicals, apply when fully dry (i prefer to wait 12 hours after a bath) its a liquid that goes between the shoulder blades. or head to the vet for a pill form, triflexis is one of a few brands. (personaly i dont use the pill forms after some bad experiences.
please also be aware some areas are becomming resistant, so ask your vet or local groomers what theyve been having good luck with.
please also remember that flea preventatives take some time to break the lifecycle, you may still see adult fleas emmerging for a few weeks, you MUST be patient.
3: TREAT THE HOUSE: not flea prventative is going to work if youve got fleas reproducing in the house. i personally had good luck after a MAJOR infestation with a product called ENFORCER (i picked it up from tractor supply) spray EVERYTHING carpets, bedding, the dogs bedding, the curtains, under the couch inbetween the cushins your matress ect...fleas can climb jump and travel great distances...if your dog has fleas....your HOUSE has fleas.
like the topicals due to the fleas lifecycle it can take a few weeks to realy see full results...dont give up, just keep ontop of it, vacume DAILY and toss the cainster/bag OUTSIDE after vacuming...
fleas are tough little critters.
and whatever ou do...
Ditch the flea collars (theyre useless) and do NOT use ANYTHING by hartz products...they are death in a tube and unfortunatly NOT to fleas...
Read the thread "a simple solution for fleas".
This is one system that works, and I don't care how many fleas your dog has.
If you follow what is said, you WILL rid your dog of fleas.
The trick to keeping fleas off your dog is to make sure he does not smell like a dog.
Fleas and ticks are attracted to the natural odor given off by dogs, and when you alter that odor, the fleas oratory sensors can not pick up the dog scent, therefore they will not be on your dog.
Bathing once a month is also very important.
Bob.
Make sure you are treating the environment as well as the pet. Wash any bedding in hot water and consider treating any furniture your dog uses. For the actual dog, go to the vet and ask them for a topical flea medication and possibly a better flea bath. They may be able to give you CapStar which kills fleas extremely quickly and then a prescription for a preventative medication.
You've GOT to break the egg cycle. That means on the dog and everywhere the dog sleeps, sits and walks inside the house. If you're in a particularly nasty area for fleas, it also means treating outside.
