I haven't researched it extensively, so I don't know a ton about it. I know it can get nasty in some dogs. We haven't seen any cases at least since I started in the ICU here 3 months ago and the local vet I sometimes use hasn't seen it either so I probably wouldn't vaccinate my dogs. If it was in my area I most likely would before boarding.

From what I understand there has been a serious outbreak in my area, Lancaster County, PA, at kennels, dog parks and grooming salons. It was on the local news to protect your dogs. I just called my vet and they recommended that I get it for my girls right away, so I scheduled appointment for this week for the first vaccine and then they will get a booster in 2 weeks. My vet just got this vaccine in stock 2 weeks ago. Most of the local kennels are now requiring this before boarding too. It is frightening because there have been fatal cases in my area.
