I'm not surprised, TX has be hit very hard with drought and no one is buying "designer" dogs much - the malti mixes. As far as the Cavs go, they have horrible health issues with their hearts mostly. I really wanted a Cav at one time but after research and talking with reputable breeders they all told me EVERY Cav has heart problems and their goal is to only breed Cavs that don't get serious problems until they are older. This is already being done in Europe with very good results so in a few generations Cav's might still have heart problems but not until their middle teens when many dogs start having health issues anyway. Cav's are VERY pricey if bought from a reputable breeder like $2500 or more.
I do hope the Cav's get into their rescue program, the Malti mixes also have several very good breed rescues. There's a guy in CA who is involved with them and he takes photos of them all.
Sent a check to North Texas Humane Society in Fort Worth towards this rescue- hope others do the same.
