serious question- his nose is full of mud like he has been rooting around for something buried. wouldn't this cause some respiratory problems if he breathed in mud? he doesn't just have a dirty face, he is seriously almost up to his eyes in mud! I've never had a dog get this dirty as they don't roam free and certainly not in the mud.

He looks pretty satisfied and happy no matter how dirty he is. He could have been out in the pasture or by the creek and saw something move and he had to dig for it. I'm glad he's not my pooch I cannot imagine how long it would be for all of the color of mud to wear off of him even after a bath.

I'd guess dogs are smart enough to not breathe in mud. He likely sniffed first, rooted around with his nose, lifted up a little and then sniffed again. If he sniffed any mud in, he'd just sneeze/snort it out.

My pup blows bubbles in her waterdish (it is fun to watch). Maybe he knew enough to blow out of his nose. It is amazing how they just know things!

^^ I was going to say, I had an Am Staff (Happy) that loved to dive for rocks in the river and lakes and she knew how to blow bubbles. If I put ice in her water dish, she would do the same thing. Smart dog. Sometimes, too smart.

This little guy either saw or smelled something and dove in. When he got nose deep and didn't find it, he came out muddy muzzle and paws. He most like blew out what went up. It is the bodies natural reaction.

I still think he's adorable, mud and all!

Not sure if I should start another thread, so I am piggybacking on yours. Here is Ricky, he is a dirty dog. Him and his sister Lucy were playing in the mud.
