The thread about the soldier coming home to his dogs after 14 months reminded me of this group of people I ran across earlier this year.

I understand we have our own overwhelming needs in our respective countries shelters and rescues, but it's nice to know what these guys are doing, when they themselves are in dangerous situations.

rescuing stray and abandoned dogs - where ever they are in the world!

I believe in saving animals wherever, whenever and however they can be saved!
Just the thought of all the animals in need all over the world is sooo depressing!
We need more people around the world that care!

It breaks my heart when I go abroad and see all the stray animals on the streets at least in Western countries like the US and the UK they are protected and have a chance because of all the rescues and individuals who work tirelessly to help them. When I go to places I'm familiar with like Greece I plan ahead and take supplies groups I am in contact need.

If any of you are planning a vacation in Cuba (it's a lovely place to visit) please check out this website s p a n k y p r o j e c t . o r g

I came to know the person behind it on a Cuban forum I use to post on and still kicking myself that I missed meetin he and his wife when they were in London this summer. It was just as I was moving homes and somehow missed the email.

Thanks for the link - another nice story. I agree with the soldier's mother - these dogs do help the soldiers and I can understand why the soldiers feel so strongly about bringing these dogs back. Thanks for sharing.

Im a soldier in Afgan, we adopted a Labrador pup, doing our best to look after her and not give anyone an excuse to shoot her. I must say the donkeys have a hard life here, very very short tethers and kids throwing rocks at them etc.
