Last night about 3am, she started up with her no-nonsense bark. She was staring at the open window above her, so out we went, Nanners fearlessly running around to the back of the house with daddy following with his shotgun. Long story short, first light investigation revealed fresh footprints of a shoe not worn by anyone here. Someone had hopped the front fence and was nosing around the back part of the house, probably attracted by the open window. Prints were in the dirt outside the window. Who knows what would have happened had my little hero not done her job. At least she saved me the hassle that shooting someone would have entailed.

Good girl! She did all I would ever expect or ask of a dog. She noticed an intruder and warned the human.

BTW- What kind of dog is she? She looks like a sweet old girl.

APBT/Lab, as far as we can tell. She's adopted, so no history on her. Yes, she's as sweet as sugar cream pie.

Good Nanners. Give the dog a big ole juicy bone (she still has teeth doesn't she?)

She still has all her teeth. I have 10 quarts of chicken on the boil for her.

What a pretty girl, and how good of her to protect her home! She has earned her chicken.

Even the chow mix male next door got in on the barking action once he heard the commotion. Intruder probably though he was surrounded. Oh, and the geese chimed in. Can't forget those guys.

I think this is the first time I've seen a picture of Nanners. Looks like a sweet ol' girl.
