They had to the good sense to not support Dahmer though. Whenever these creeps are caught, neighbors are always saying "he was quiet, polite and kept to himself. I never would have imagined." My sister has a theory. She believes people feel responsible. Admitting they knew something is like admitting they should have done something. In this vet's case, admitting he did something is like admitting that their pets may have been victims of his abuse. They can't look at their pets and believe that. They are more comfortable with denial. As long as they support him and believe he's innocent, they don't have to worry about what happened to their pets there.
