DALLAS - The holidays were sad enough for Kim Velevis and her husband after their lovable pug "Scooter" dug its way out of the backyard and disappeared on Christmas Eve. But the real blow came with the new year: A letter from an anonymous woman who had found the friendly dog and gave it to her daughter as a Christmas present. To compensate for Velevis' loss, a $20 bill was enclosed.

If the woman has any morals she will get the dog back to it's owner, Kim.

If Kim finds out who has the dog (probably will from all the press) someone will rat her out, the only recourse Kim will have is to sue in small claims and prove the dog is hers.

If that ever happened to me, I'd be crushed. I'd also be on their doorstep 24/7 and only leave if the popo made me, (on a street you can sit where you want, as long as you want, provided there are no 'no parking' signs), or I had my dog.

A reason to tatoo or microchip your dog. Dog thefts are on the rise.

I would be sick and devastated if that were my pet. I hope she gets her dog back. The sob story about this womans ills has no bearing on this and I have to wonder how true that is.

20 bucks? Good grief, as if giving the dog away to someone else isn't bad enough? She had to give insult to injury? Really dumb woman to think she would get away with it. I I would think this Dallas woman would be he** bent for leather to get the dog back.

I thought the 20 bucks was a slap in the face as well. My little dog is laying here next too me on my bed, enjoying the heating blanket, my cats are here as well. I can't imagine a sum that I would take for them.
