I'd rather prefer to name it 勇気(Yuuki or Yūki) than 勇む(Isamu).
Yuki is somewhat also common name for Japanese boys with using different Kanji characters.
You have to imagine yelling your dog's name in front of other people. If you're okay with yelling, "Issasaaaaa mooooooo!" then go for it
Also, imagine telling strangers what your dog's name is. If you relish explaining the name, and it will give you pleasure explaining it - to someone who may want to run away from you (or not) - then consider that, too.
I have found with my dogs, that their names have morphed into something beyond their official names, anyway. For instance, my last dog was officially named Mexican Mutt, and was supposed to go by "M and M" She ended up being called Emmy.
My current dog is Jackie, but I call her Jack-a-rudy (no reason, it's just what I do), which often morphs into just calling her "Rudy."
So, I can picture your dog's offical name being Isamu but can envision you actually calling your dog, "Moo" or "Moo Moo."
You could always have the official name be Isamu, but tell people the name is Moo Moo.
The choice is obviously yours. My rescue dog was named Ellie Mae at the shelter, and after a month of trying to live with that pathetic hillbilly name, LOL, I changed it to Jackie. And yet, I call her Rudy half the time.
Is Isamu a good dog name? it is a japanese name meaning courage prounonced ee sah moo
It's a dog......not your kid
