I am just thrilled theres a good story about an animal being saved rather than a dog being shot or drowned

What a great story! And happy ending. I would be heartsick if my dog was lost that long.

I had a dog that used to run away from people. She used to be feral (she was 6 months old, a feral "island" dog when I adopted her... terrified of humans too. But I grew on her I guess).

When she was inside, she was 100% obedient dog, but outside, something clicked and she wanted to run and completely ignored calls to come home. She ran away twice and I eventually figured out the trick to getting her to come back... get her attention and run away from her. She'd always chase me down and "catch" me. Worked like a charm. Not sure if it would have worked in this case with people trying to catch this dog, but it's something I wanted to share in case anyone else ran into a similar situation.
