Maybe it is meant in "fun", but I find those contests mean-spirited. How could someone look into a dog's eyes and not see the beauty there.
"Ugly" is a human concept; another reason I like dogs better than humans.
Ugly is as ugly does.

Katie - It's "conformation"; not "confirmation". It's also NOT a beauty contest; it's a format to determine which dogs are closest to the breed standard in terms of of physical structure, movement, and temperament.
