Glad to hear it. Very cool that your vet knew that the irregular heart beat could cause panic attacks. My own infrequent palpitations can feel scary but I have the benefit of my trained human brain that knows everything has been ruled out so no worries. Your dog doesn't.
As others have suggested, it is easy to teach dogs that your bed is off limits. Especially if you give him a cushy bed of his own. And depending on his level of infirmity he may not even try to jump on the bed.
You can also use a lined belly band and/or lined b-tch pants to help with incontinence. We used them successfully with three of our old dogs.
