Well, we found our pet. We get her tomorrow. Mix of chi and pug. Very cute, sweet, and great temperment. It's funny how you just seem to know when you find the right one.
She must be cute! Where did you find her? I keep getting lucky with cute little abandoned chi mixes coming my way...even kept a few myself! I dont have experience with pugs (though I am hoping one day the universe will send me one!) but as to chis, I can tell you I LOVE them, they are completely silly and as long as you train them to be dogs instead of whiny, yippy spoiled brats they make wonderful pets. My 2 oldest (now 3yrs) have amazing recall, they are so well-behaved other chi owners I know are amazed...I tell them you just have to let them know from the beginning that good behavior=treats & snuggles, and bad behavior=no attention. Still working on the 2 youngest, (both mixed with JRT) one is a year and has about 75% recall/listening skills and the baby (4 months) is at about 45%...(he will be calmer & more able to listen once hes neutered so I am being patient...lol!) Good luck with your new baby, and I am anxiously awaiting those super cute pix!!!
I do believe that they pick you... when I got my pup there were about three others there the minute he was let out he came and sat down right next to me the others where going nuts and jumping around... then he did start to play but after a couple of minutes he sat down at my husband.. I just knew he had to come home with us...

Just be sure to nurture the pug side of the personality, some of those Chugs can be very protective and aggressive (Chi traits) if not socialized and trained. I've seen a number of Chugs snap at much larger dogs. But the good ones are like pocket-sized pugs, which has to be the cutest possible thing. I have a pug and he's absolutely awesome, and he's even trainable. Plus, the bonus of a Chug is that you can litter-pan train it!

That's exactly what happened to us We went to the shelter to look at the dogs and see if any of them popped out to us. We must have looked at 15 dogs, and the minute they put our Lola in the pen with us, she jumped up on the bench my boyfriend was sitting on and climbed into his lap.
I just can't believe anyone could possibly give up such a wonderful dog... it's mind boggling.
My husband and I got our Chug when he was just weeks old. We have had him since June 2013 he will be 3 years old April 11th. He has been a social butterfly loves everyone and everything. He loves our cats and loves other dogs and kids. We were managers of a RV park and our home was part of the office and our dog greeted every stranger that came into the office. Unfortunately we came under some circumstances where we could not keep our dog. We found a great woman to take him. She took him for 3 days and during those 3 days he attacked 3 men and one of the attacks was really bad. She brought him back to us today. So now we are at a turning point. We have never seen him like this before and can we trust him ever again around people? Do we take him to a shelter knowing he may attack at any moment or...? Please don't attack us for asking this question we are old with health problems and we just wanted the best for our dog now.
