We brought a great little guy in at 8 weeks from a very reputable breeder, and he's been given a clean bill of health (including worms).

The breeder had him on Taste of the Wild puppy, with roasted bison & venison, and he's eaten it pretty well (though he's not at all a big eater).

His stools are frequent - 3-4 times a day, and not abnormal in any way (firm, regular size), but it doesn't seem that he's eating enough to support such a bathroom schedule.

He's thin, but healthy. Any reason to be concerned?

I don't think so. IIRC that food is not too carb heavy. Puppies are poop machines! My puppy amazed me every day with that, I was like this volume is insane! She was on a high quality food, so I knew that wasn't the problem. Others said 'it's just the way of puppies'! Glad she took to potty training SO FAST!

Agreed. I just adopted a 1-2 old GSD and was initially amazed at how much he poops. He goes about 3x/day, so I asked my vet and she said that 3x/day actually wasn't that much for a puppy.

As long as his stools are regular and firm, he is eating and drinking normally, he isn't losing weight and his energy level is good, he is a normal, healthy puppy. Puppies just poop A LOT!

Actually my three year old poodle mix poops about 3 times a day. The overall total daily volume is typical, he just breaks it up over more occasions. I am actually glad because if it's storming our we can just pop out for a quick pee in the yard without worrying that he needs to poop since he invariably has already pooped at least once that day, LOL.

Totally normal puppies poop a lot. My adult dogs usually poop 2x a day.

How often do you feed him? My last dog would poop twice when I fed her twice a day. If I gave her a treat, she would poop 3 times. If I gave her 3 treats plus the 2 meals, she would poop 5 times.

My 9 week old German Short haired pup poops about 6x a day, lol.

Play, eat, poop, sleep... repeat.

She is free feeding now, but will go on a 3 per day schedule in a few weeks, then gradually to 2x per day when she gets older..
