We own a 15 ob Dachshund who is a member of our family. She wakes up at 3AM and starts barking. She sleeps in the laundry room and has water beside her. She likes to burrow under her blankets. We need our sleep. Adjacent to the laundry room is a very large attached garage. We have her play pen there. The garage does not have a heater. We are thinking about giving her lots of blankets and a sweater and letting her sleep there. I am checking the temperature of the garage and wonder what is reasonable for this size dog.
The garage is insulated well but we recently relocated to Washington State and it has been in the 30's at night.
Your dog is 15. She doesn't have much more time left to her. Bring her into your room and deal with her outbursts when they happen, though I doubt she'll freak out that much if her people are right there. People deal with newborns waking them up in the night, you can deal with your elderly and likely dying dog waking you up for the brief time she has left. Don't exile her to a cold garage.

This is why I typically don't post here as the responses are judgmental, inaccurate (the dog is 15 lbs) and responses are crass and unhelpful.
It's been my experience that dogs, in general, don't like to be separated from their families. They feel more secure when close to the human family members, esp. at night. I would suggest finding a location for her in your bedroom, if possible...perhaps leave an open crate in there where she can curl up on some blankets. [If you have had her for a long time and this is new behaviour, a vet visit might be in order to make sure nothing is going on.]

How OLD is the dog? You do know that Doxies Don't grow a 2nd winter coat? So when she barks at 3 am What do you do? IF s/he is waking you to go potty I suggest you Litter Box train her. Then she will have no reason the wake you to take her out. You said she has Water ... What about Food? A Kong filled with Food will keep her busy. A radio in the same room on low so she can hear but not get her ears blasted will keep her company. Washington State get WAY to cold & Damp for her to be in a Garage IMO

Members of my family sleep in my room or on my bed, not on the cold laundry room floor, and certainly not in the freezing garage.
Poor dog.
