My old dogs pads are wearing thin and seem to be causing him sensitivity. I've read that some people spread a thin layer of super glue on their dogs pads for extra protection. This seems like a bad idea to me, or at best, an idea that won't work very well. Has anyone actually tried it?
I know there are other options like booties and moleskin some of which I use, just curious about the value of the whole super glue idea.
I wouldn't, just on the basis that if I put some on my finger and caught it on something it would probably pull my skin off. I'm guessing it would hurt a dog too.

Please, don't do that just because 'some people' do that. Check with your veterinarian.

I'd use a nitrile glove, if I did it. I dont do anything just because other people do it.

My concern wasn't for you, but for the dog. Nothing personal.

I’ve used super glue many times to close wounds on myself, my kids, and my dogs. I used when my dog sliced that pad that’s up above the foot on ice. It was almost cut off! I think for your issue, I’d just use boots if the dog is uncomfortable walking.

There can be abrasion even in boots, and boots present other issues for my particular situation. Right now that's what I'm using, I'm just exploring other options that might be better. So far I see little reason to think SG is the answer.

Dogs sweat thru their pads. I wouldn't put super glue on them. Maybe try "power paws".
Gives grip and protects.
