Called the vet and we have an appointment for Monday but I'm kind of concerned and want to see if anyone has an idea of what might be wrong with my 2.5 y/o male Shiba Inu, he is about 30lb

Just hasn't been himself for the past week and has been making a grumbling noise everytime (most times) he lays down

Every so often he will try to vomit and nothing will come out.

He normally howls when I play guitar, and now it is a muted and strained howl

His breath was a little off the other day, have not checked it again though

When he eats, his back legs begin marching, alternating between lifting one after the other (not normally how he eats)

He is eating, pooping and playing like normal as far as I can tell

He doesn't exhibit pain like my other dog, he either ignores it or doesn't feel it as much. He will continue walking if he has a burr stuck on his paws vs the other Shiba who will stop and limp

Have you opened his mouth and tried to look down his throat? Maybe something is stuck in there? Does he complain if you rub the underside of his neck? Does he ever shake? Shaking can mean pain.

I haven't responded because there are WAY too many possibilities, and you need to get the dog to the vet. Since he's been more or less ok with this for a week already, I'd guess he should be ok until Monday. Although I do think you should have called the vet earlier, it is too late now. Next time, heads up a bit sooner.

If the dog gets worse, go to the emergency vet.

It does sound like your dog is having pain of some sort. I hope your vet was able to help. I have a shiba too and they can sometimes just be little weirdos but it is better to be safe.
