A beloved squeaky ball got left In a car that hasn't been driven in months. I opened the car door and the ball fell out, bounced a couple of times, and bounced into the drinking water bucket.
Pensive discovered it there, fished it out, and has been playing with it.
But now, every time she is on her way outside, she runs to look in the water bucket. You never know. There was a delightful surprise hidden in the bucket, floating in the water, appearing like magic, and it is bound to happen again.
She doesn't want to miss it when it happens again.
One of my previous dogs once had the thrill to chase a squirrel into the garage and corner it in the rafters. It was a long standoff. For years afterward, every time we drove into that garage she'd hopefully scan the rafters searching for the long gone squirrel.
Have you ever noticed a dog going back to a food bowl that he'd just cleaned out? Licked it all the way to the bottom. Not a slurp left. Still, maybe in the last 5 seconds......
Hahaha Carly RIP, used to stand in the laundry room when her toys and tennis balls were being cleaned with the dog blankets
In Winter if her balls were buried in the snow, she'd be so sad when the dryer produced no balls.
well, you could at least pet her. That's a different kind of treat.
