Dogs who are housebroken are very uncomfortable, especially emotionally, when they leak urine in the house. And, while putting a diaper on the dog may solve the problem for the owner, it means the dog is left sitting in a urine-soaked diaper, which can cause skin irritation.
Please talk to your vet about PROIN. It's worked for 4-5 older dogs I've adopted and I know many, many other dog owners who've used it with great success.

well like any good human or pet parent, you would not leave you human or canine in a wet diaper.
When my older dogs have had a UTI, they'd lick themselves or act somewhat differently. But maybe she hasnt been with you long enough for you to tell when she's acting differently. Anyway, I'm glad you found the source of the leaking and got the antibiotics for her.
And remember the PROIN in case she starts leaking without a UTI in the future.

Good news in that it's fixable and not something more dire. It's tough when one adopts a new dog and doesn't know their history. I dealt with a female rescue who had a leakage problem and we did the standard tests with no answers at first. The vet dug deeper and it turned out it was a hormone imbalance which was fixed with meds. But going in we didn't know if it was a long-standing problem or something new. I'm glad she has you and that you're on top of it.
My last senior dog was very prone to UTIs, her prior owners dumped her at the shelter because of it. Be sure to run the full course of antibiotics and if it still hasn't fully cleared you may need a second course of them. I did give mine a cranberry pill in her food daily, it was really tiny and she just gobbled it up with her kibble.
I'm willing to try flax seed & cranberry! I have flaxseed meal in the cupboard. I'll start then all On it.
They all get yogurt & Metamucil in their breakfast.
(The cat won't eat papaya enzyme)
She did have a full senior workup. After the antibiotics are finished she will go back for follow up. $300 & change so far.
We had that problem with Steve and put him on Proin and it worked. Later I stopped it for awhile and he no longer has the problem (it is not supposed to "fix" the problem). I don't know if he had a fear issue.... When we got him he peed if you said "no", and he leaked while he slept, but now he is fine.
