Those worked very well, and we've kept the 6' square ones for the day -- I hope far away -- when our current dog starts slipping.
My old boy (who's almost 17) often loses his footing now, and ends up in a splayed position - then just lays there like "guess this is my life now" until I help. It really is heartbreaking.

I've also used a combination of area rugs + yoga mats, and even some carpet squares I bought on Facebook marketplace. They were selling a whole lot of them for like $3/piece, so I bought 20 IIRC. Great idea, as they're small enough to cover those random spots and corners; but heavy enough not to slide around too much. I do need to get some grip tape for them, however, as sometimes they do slip a little under the dogs' feet.

So I don’t think introducing foreign substances is a good idea, plus he’s getting regular betadine washes for the infections.

Interesting product, though. Perhaps I’ll ask my vet if it could work for my other dog, since his paws are still young and healthy.
