We boarded our 2 dogs - (Laddie, age 7, collie and Madison, 16, sheltie). The person taking care of them has know the dogs for a long time - over 10 years for Madison. I spoke to her on Wednesday and she was telling me how sweet, loving and good Madison was.

On Friday morning at 4 AM (those calls are never good), we got the call that she was gone. She had taken both dogs out for a walk in her backyard - fenced; no leases on the dogs. They both did what they needed to do and then she saw Madison fall and then she fell into the pool.

They say it was a heart attack but if this sweet girl had been on a leash, it may not have happened.

Both dogs hated the water and the thought of my sweet girl tumbling into that cold water just makes me unbearably sad.

So, now, we are down to only 1 dog but will be looking after Christmas.
I just saw this sad update and I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet Madison. I hope that you can take comfort in the many happy times you shared over the last 16 years. She knew every day that she was a well loved member of your family.

Default Still grieving....now double

To lose Chase in September 2021 and now Madison in November 2021 is just too much.

Madison was 16; Chase was 8 so we had her for a long time.

But, so many things tied to Madison - our kids were in college and high school; still at home when we got her and so many happy memories of her. She was such a love.

Today, we saw these white birds in our backyard - those are the kind she saw and we thought of her wanting to get out in the backyard - even at 16 - and chasing them. That was her thing.

I miss both of them but Madison was my girl. She was precious.

I had to put Colby (13yr old Shepherd Husky mix) to sleep in August and for some reason I'm having a wave of grief as though it just happened. Reading this just tore me up. I am so sorry this happened to you.

Smile I think of them every day.....

We have a new female Sheltie. Her name is Callie.

She is very smart and almost housetrained.

In fact, she knows what to do. She just has to wait on the humans.

She is almost 11 weeks old.

Sable and white. All white paws.
