Oh, dear. You've got yourself a smarty pants dog!!!

Peanut butter? Same thing works for almond butter, although you really must freeze this...it's a bit more oily.

Good on the green beans, my dog loves them. I put peanut butter inside a kong, with either green peas, or green beans, and freeze it. No more peanut butter globs on the floor! (But given your pup, he'd probably microwave the kong to soften up the treats so he could get at them easier!)

Also, mix bits of walnuts in with the peanut butter. Kind of like a doggy Reese's cup!

I love the string cheese idea too. I always freeze it because it take him longer to get it out of the kong, and he has fun doing it!

Freeze the carrots for the summer heat. CAKD, I know how the weather is like in RDU during the summer, hot, humid, and unbearable. Frozen carrots are the way to cool off the "hot dog!" OK, bad pun!

It has been miserable here already! My neighbor said her golden loves it when she fills his kong with yogurt and freezes it. It is his own little ice cream cone

Is there a larger potential for choking with baby carrots?

Sadly we keep all nut product out of our home due to severe allergies. I suppose sunflower seed butter would work just as well too? That we can have

There might be competition between the puppy and my daughter over the carrots though She loves her carrots

Thanks to everyone for the great ideas!

I second (or is it third?) the suggestion of freezing the Kong filled with treats!

Two summers ago, we were living in Virginia. Of course, our a/c died in the middle of July. DH and I both work, and we had to leave Tonka at home. We would freeze a Kong for him, which not only kept him busy, but helped keep him cool during those hot summer days.

I put my pup's regular kibble in her kong. She tends to travel when she eats, so this works well, and shes not making trips back and forth to the food bowl one kibble at a time!
