Some people have grandchildren, others have grandpuppies.

"For years, we didn't have any grandchildren and my daughter's dog, Mr. Moose, was all we had," said 63-year-old Eileen Williams of the San Francisco Bay area.

I tell my mom that she has 3 grandsons and a granddaughter all the time (my sister has 2 sons and a daugher). She has always said that while she loves PC, he's not her grandson and that I need to have a human child to know what she means.

Now that I'm pregnant, she's coming around to the idea that PC will always be her furry grandson! I make her a calendar every year for Christmas of all the grandkids, and PC is on quite a few months! I treat him like my gigantic baby and expect the same from her. I'm glad she's finally coming around to it! She even brought him a toy when she came to visit and when she sent me a package, there were some treats for him as well. Who could deny that beautiful Bulldog face?

I see nothing wrong with that! My mom and stepdad proudly talk about their 2 grandoggers & 2 grandogs! Until they get human grandchildren (if), they live by the same concepts- come spoil the grandbabies, then leave them with their parents!

Grand-dogs rock! My Grandparents always bought gifts for their fur covered grand babies. We even had a new puppy shower for one of my cousins.

my mom only ever had grand-cats from me .....

she got mother's day and birthday cards with the cats' pawprints in them.... (THAT was a challenge.... )

and i would take hobbes up to the nursing home to visit her....

she was pretty far gone down the dementia highway by the time i got bailey, so neither had the pleasure of meeting or knowing the other .....

My MIL is crazy about her Grand-dog . I think she is happier to she him than she is us when we go and visit. She soils him rotten, she swears that the dog can count. Our dog won't consider leaving until he has gotten 3 treats and of course Grandma always comes through with 3 treats of some sort .

That's really cool that you took your cat to the nursing home to visit Grandma.

Pets visiting nursing homes........good therapy for the residents. My Dad loved it when the therapy dog visited.......it really lifted his spirits.

I have to laugh at this post as we are in this boat with no grandkids but 2 very spoiled and loved granddogs, one a Boxer and one a rescue dog. They come to stay with us when our kids are out of town and must come to all the bbq's.
