the small cuties oranges are back in season and my 3 year old golden simply loves it and I can't resist his sad, begging face (though I know he has good acting skills).. he loves the honeycrisp apples we have here in seattle too, which is also in season right now..
he eats his usual dog food kibble and occasional dog treats and we don't allow him any table scraps or leftover 'human' food...
so... is it ok for dogs to eat fruits? like oranges and apples? I know grapes are not good for dogs so I don't give him that...
I think fruits like apples and veggies like carrots are fine to give your dogs... but a phone call to your vet to confirm which ones your pet shouldn't eat may be in order just to be sure.
Growing up, I had a GSD that would just salivate over apples. I would always share mine with her.
I heard it's good to give your dogs veggies? my dog doesn't like any type of veggies.. always spits them out.. but starts giving that begging look if one of us is holding an apple or orange...
Chubba, I wouldn't force the veggies on your dog but if he wants a piece of fruit, I don't see the harm. Mine LOVES it. She drools more for fruits and veggies than she does for meat.
All my dogs eat raw carrots. Everday when I make a fruit and veggie bowl for my Mollucan Cockatoo all the dogs stand and wait for their carrots. They will all eat one fruit or another but my little deaf pit Lyla eats everything, from pears to oranges to apples to bananas, she even likes my left over salad with olive oil and vinegar!
Can anyone tell me why grapes are bad for dogs? I was eating them once and my dog was begging for some so I figured they were OK, and he wound up pukeing all of them up!
