Mpls news recently showed a story of a black lab puppy (approx. 9 mos) that was seen hanging out on the Mississippi River - on the ice, near open water. Some rescue people went down to check and found misc. items (cell phone, etc...) near the open water opening. The dog would stand next to it and look down so they assumed (correctly) that someone had fallen in. The dog had already been there for a day or so but when they tried to catch it, it ran away. Another rescue team went down and found a women's body under an ice shelf. The video showed the pup pacing back and forth the entire time the rescue people were working - and yes, they finally caught the pup. Here's my point: 9 months old - what loyalty already for such a young one. Where else do you find that kind of loyalty anymore?? It also was obviously very bright. Poor baby - he could have easily fallen in as well, especially since he was there all night, perhaps several nights. I never trust anyone that doesn't like dogs!!
