I know a woman with two affenpinschers. She's an older woman that lives by herself. One of them was very hyper. The other was very suspicious of new people. I don't think that I would recommend an affenpinscher for a family with young kids. A miniature schnauzer would be a better choice, and there are some similarities between the breeds imo. The schnauzer would be a little bit larger and with a better temperament. I had a mini schnauzer growing up and she was a great family pet. But she didn't like strangers visiting the house.
