"A titer test does not and cannot measure immunity, because immunity to specific viruses is reliant not on antibodies, but on memory cells, which we have no way to measure."

Titers
From that same website:

You can use a titer test about two weeks after vaccination to determine if the vaccination was effective in stimulating an immune response (in other words, if the animal was successfully immunized from the vaccine)

So according to them, in this case titers could be useful.

I sure hope that is inaccurate, since they use titers to determine if it's time for my rabies booster!

Good points all. Plus, inspecting your dog carefully when the dog comes in from outside and pulling off any ticks immediately will prevent the transfer of Lyme. Unless your dog is black or dark brown and has dense curly fur, visual inspection is easy and quick to do.

I am so sorry you have been through this
You may want to read up on the AAHA guidlines on the link before your next visit.

Most of us don't even give Lepto to our working search dogs even though they may work in an area where wild pigs may have been. And the lepto vaccine seems to be much harder on small/toy dogs than the bigger dogs. Unless your dog is playing around on a pig farm or is in an area with a REAL problem with lepto and lyme ...........

This site is run by the AAHA, a veterinary organization hopefully your vet respects and puts out vaccine info and recommendations.

Lepto is spread through the urine of an infected animal - and although pigs are on the list, I suspect rodents would be more the issue (especially in an urban setting). I'm not advocating one way or the other (vaccination or not, that's for you to decide), but you need to be clear about how it's transmitted and what types of animals carry it.

Your pup's had a lot of vaccines for only being 10 weeks old, like Kansas Skyl posted. My Frenchie had his shots at 8, 10, 12 and 14 weeks of age and rabies at 16 weeks. My vet doesn't do Corona, Lepto, and Lyme and I don't allow the Bordatella.

Sorry your pup is having a hard time of it - just make sure her vet records are clearly marked that she needs Benadryl and monitoring for allergic reactions.

And if you are in a lepto endemic area and decide to give it make sure the vet is using one with the strains for your area - they make regional blends of the vaccines based on what is most prevalent in a given part of the country, but those who order 5 way and 7 way vaccines often just get a generic strain.

- Excellent advice for any dog owner considering the lepto vaccine.
