We always have him on the leash outside. Our yard is not fenced and I'd be too afraid he would run off. Rain or shine we're right there with him.

My dog is almost 1 1/2 old and the last time he made a mess in his crate was a couple of months ago.
What I was told by a vet is that in some breeds, regardless if they're 'housetrained' or not still have a tendency to have accidents until a certain age.

Maybe that's what it is. Because he will go weeks sometimes and have no problems at all. It seems the times when the accidents happen are close together for several days and then he'll go back to staying clean and dry.
